How to vote?

I would like to state that I am not a supporter of any political party.  I’m a non-partisan voter.  I do not decide beforehand who I’m going to vote for.  I always look at the candidates for my area and what they have to say, what are their plans, etc before deciding.  So if you want my vote, you will need to convince me first.  Unless of course you’re from PAS.  If that’s the case, then you don’t have to waste your saliva.  I love my bak kut teh and don’t want it to be banned.

I read about Nathaniel Tan’s arrest, the reason why he was arrested and the events that took place after his arrest.  The worst thing was his family and loved ones were not informed about his arrest or his whereabouts.  I wouldn’t want to be put in that situation.  I can’t help but agree with some journalists that perhaps his arrest was political motivated.  Then again each arrest made against the opposition parties would be political motivated isn’t it?  Well who’s the police force’s boss?  If it was the other way round, would the police be so eager to act?  What if the comment was made on the blog of a member of the ruling party instead of a member of the opposition party, would the police be so eager to make an arrest?

Many, many years ago, while Anwar was still the DPM, I worked for a web company that developed BN and UMNO’s website.  The company was also one of 3-4 other companies that were selected to bid for UMNO’s intranet.  I was the Project Manager.  I’ve never worked on a project bid with so many complications.  This company’s CEO is so and so’s nephew, that company’s boss is related to so and so.  You had to thread carefully and hope to not step on anyone’s toes.  Of course my boss was also related to so and so and is close to so and so.  Hell a lot of so and so lah.

Anwar’s political secretary, Azmin Ali, was my boss’s brother in law.  His wife was later accused of having an affair with Anwar.  If you think sure my boss received help from all those so and so.  You’re wrong.  His brother in law never lifted one finger to provide us with any advantage.  As a matter of fact, he didn’t want to know anything about what we were doing and my boss told us many times that Azmin would not assist us in securing the project.  Heck, if you followed the Anwar trial, you would know that he didn’t even help his own brother and sister which is why I guess they turned against him.

The reason for not getting involved was because he would be putting his career at risk.  Wait, wait, wait, I’m not trying to convince you to vote for Azmin ok?  It’s just that I couldn’t believe some of the things that were brought up during Anwar’s trial.  I’m disturbed by some of the things that happened to Tan.  There are also tons of videos on YouTube on the silly things that happen in Parliament.  The name calling, the monkey calls, the bocor comments.

A lot of people who were happy with the way things were, are no longer feeling that way now.  I’ve met many who tell me the same thing, "Next election I sure vote for the opposition wan.  Roket, roket.  Give them power a bit".  Is that good for the country?  Or do you vote for the candidate and not the party?
