The Olympic Games
The Olympic games is coming to an end and frankly speaking I don’t really care who win what or who broke what. I’m more excited that the EPL season has started again. I didn’t follow the Olympics except for bits of pieces whenever I’m out having dinner when the Olympic channel is on. And it’s on everywhere.
I didn’t catch the opening ceremony and probably will miss the closing as well. I’m only interested in a few sports like football. But I won’t make time just to watch a game so I only know Argentina and Nigeria are meeting in the final. Don’t know what happened to Brazil.
But the other sport that is attracting a lot of my attention is beach volleyball. I love the competitiveness of the sports, the elegant grace of a player hanging in the air before a spike, the tactical strategy involved and the deep thought that goes into each serve.

Nothing to do with the women in bikinis, diving around on the beach, jumping up and down in the air and slapping their asses to get the sand off. Absolutely nothing to do with that. :P
Of course as a Malaysian I would also take notice of badminton. I caught the semi final where Lee Chong Wei beat that Korean dude and I was about to break into that Jalur Gemilang song when I remembered that beach volleyball was on the other channel.
But still I hung around long enough to see Lee kiss the Malaysian flag on his shirt. But if I were him I would have gone a step further and kissed the sponsor’s logo as well. Moolah baby moolah.
He ran over and jumped into Misbun’s arms and his poor coach tried hard to carry him but nearly tumbled over. I’ll be honest and say that I felt proud to see them. That should be the Malaysian spirit. No race issues, no stupid protest. Just two ‘Malaysians’ celebrating victory for their country. I felt like hugging a fellow countryman but I was in Bangkok and didn’t know if there were any Malaysians around me at that time. So I did the best I could. I hugged my Thai waitress. :P :P :P
I only caught the 2nd set of the final and really who would have given much hope of Lee beating Lin Dan on his own turf except Malaysians. When he grabbed a bottle to drink you could clearly see the poor guy’s hands shaking. Stats showed that the bets where on Lin Dan to win. All my friends placed bets on Lin Dan to win. So if Lee had won the bookmakers would have made a huge ton of money.
But seriously why is Lee going to be a Datuk and not Misbun Sidek? I think he should be given a Datukship too no? I remember as a young kid sitting beside my dad watching Misbun sporting a kick-ass mohawk hairstyle as a player. He fought for his country then and he’s still fighting for his country now by coaching, no? Mind you he also has to deal with his wife’s failing health.
What about Malaysia’s other medal winners? I briefly overheard that we won three more medals at Wushu and one of them is a silver? Can’t find any online news about it. Don’t know whether it’s true.
Oh oh… did you know that in the good old ancient days participants in the games competed in the nude? Don’t so stim first. The downside is only men took part in the games and women who were caught watching the games would be thrown over a cliff!
Majulah sukan untuk negara.

har? wushu got 3 medals?? mm hai gua…
wat abt womens water polo? u no like meh? got chicks accidentally baring boobs wor :p
Reply : Yes wor… was in the tv news but apparently the medals will not be in the official count bcoz wushu is just a demonstartion sports or something like dat.

i want to know if it’s true that LCW was bought by the bookies?
Reply : From my sources lah.. har… someone told me that betting syndicates is a regional thing, HK, China, Taiwan, SG, Msia, Thai, etc…. these are the big players. If anyone were to offer LCW anything that would be bigger than what the Msian govt was offering him (RM1 mill), it would be these big players. So do you think they would offer LCW to lose or Lin Dan to lose considering that everyone placed bets on Lin Dan? If Lin Dan lost, the bookies would made enormous amounts of money in HK, China, Taiwan, etc… except for Msia bcoz Msians had money on LCW. On the local smaller syndicates, forget it lah. They wouldn’t have the resources to make a big enough offer.
