Attempted car jack at McD
![]() |
I don’t know why people animals would want to take a shot at her. Ok, you didn’t manage to get her car and she put up a struggle but why want to take her life by shooting her in the neck. For what!? For a Camry?? Real chicken shit animals. The report says one man but it was actually two men. Both Chinese. They were at McDs and followed her to her car.
She has lost a lot of blood and is still in coma. The husband is with her at the hospital. I feel sad especially when I think of their young children. The eldest is still in primary school. These are good people. Well liked by everyone.
This incident has really reminded me how our country has changed. Although generally it is still a safe country but crime is everywhere. How many times have I gone to that same McD and parked my car at the same spot. Never in my mind did I think that I should be vigilant of my surroundings. How many times have I drove around my area in the wee hours of the morning. How many times have I parked by the side of a lonely road in the wee hours of the morning.
Because we do it all the time, we take things for granted. We develop this comfortable sense of security because we do it all the time. How many times have our wives gone out alone to buy McDs and parked at the same alley. Nothing has happened yet and nothing will. It’s safe. She does it all the time.
How many times have we left our girlfriends alone in the car while we went to do something, pay for petrol, get a drink, take a leak, etc.
God, how many times have I left the kids in the car with the doors locked while I go down to the ATM machine. I do it all the time. It’s safe or is it? What if even with the doors locked someone hijacked my car! But what if the kids followed me to the ATM machine and someone tries to rob me!? I would have put my kids in danger.
Or should we just ‘don’t think so much’. It is still a safe enough place to roam freely.

i felt sorry whn i read that news too… DAng those bastard !!…
Reply : Yeah so sad for the kids.

‘don’t think so much’?
I think not. We all have to have this awareness mentality these days. Always be aware of your surroundings the moment you step out of your house.
Reply : Yeah I agree. But sometimes we do or go some place so often that we forget isn’t it?
Comment by mumsgather — 5 September 2008 @ 12:58 pm

McD’s there didn’t have drivethru ah?
So sorry for the family to have to go through this.
Reply : Actually they do. I wonder why she didn’t do it.
Well maybe like me, sometimes the drive thru is too long so getting it from the counter is faster. I do it too sometimes.

am sorry to hear that… it’s very sad that our country (or for that matter, the world) has become so unsafe.. I remembered I was allowed to cycle alone to friends’ house without needing bodyguards.. sigh.. do take care..
Reply : Yeah, it was the same during my childhood.

this is so sad. i didnt really notice this in the news until i came here n it sort of personalized it.
Reply : Yeah we read about crimes all the time but I guess we don’t really realize that it could happen to us.

When I came back for hols, I was really stressed each time I went out with my kids. As far as possible, I did not take them out whenever I had to run errands. And I tried not to go out by myself, esp at night. I cannot risk my kids growing up without a mother.
I only relaxed when I came back here. That was one of the contributing factors we decided to leave our family and friends and make a living here. Those b*stards… force me to make my own CCF and siew yoke.. :P
Reply : Were you really that scared?? Why? Was it because of what you read in the news or the way people acted around you?
Comment by kat — 7 September 2008 @ 4:29 pm
Sorry to hear about the news. I pray that she will recover. Whenever we go Malaysia, we will be on high alert beocs of the news and hearsay.
Reply : When I was in Singapore, many told me that when they drive over to JB (with SG no plate), they are prime targets for robbers. The recent attempted carjack of a Ferrari shows this. The robbers tried a few times from JB all the way to Genting!
